Dundalk does the heavy lifting on a three-meeting Sunday

Three from Dundalk headline a six-pick Sunday, with Atlantic City the banker at Perth and two priced ones worth a saver.

A quiet Sunday on paper, three meetings and six picks, but the shape of the day is clear enough. Half of our bets are at Dundalk, the strongest single fancy runs at Perth, and Stratford carries one solid position on its own.

Start at Dundalk, where the 4:20 is the race we keep coming back to. Sutton Hoo towers over this field on what he has already achieved, with daylight between him and the next best on the book. The trip suits, stall five suits, and the only thing needing forgiving is a 44-day break. At around 9/2 that is a chance worth taking with a win bet.

The two Dundalk sprints earlier on the card offer bigger prices. Howd’yadoit is the quickest in the 2:00 on recent times, and his career peak came only lately, so this is not a horse trading on old form. Ger Lyons and Colin Keane team up, and stall three over the five furlongs there is exactly where you want to be drawn. In the 2:35, Whistling Jamesie finally races off a mark that has eased after three quiet runs, and few yards are sharper around Dundalk than Natalia Lupini’s. A standard surface has always brought out his best. Both go in each way at double-figure prices.

Perth is where the confidence sits. Atlantic City in the 3:16 is our biggest bet of the day, and the case is simple. Her recent form has been franked, with rivals from her last two starts going on to win, she is proven over this trip and ground, and Murphy and Bowen are a potent pairing at the track. Later on the card, Parisencore in the 3:51 keeps clocking quicker times with each run and they measure up at this Class 3 level. He has handled the ground before, comes here fresh after 21 days, and was second last time with a win three starts back. He makes plenty of appeal each way at 7/1.

Stratford gets one bet, but a proper one. Aslukgoes in the 3:00 carries two points win, so while it is a single swing at the meeting, it is not a token one.

Six runners, three tracks, and a day that leans on Dundalk to deliver. If Sutton Hoo and Atlantic City both do their jobs, the bigger prices are playing with house money. Back tomorrow with a fresh card.
