Carlisle stacks up, and a 25/1 shot at Hamilton

Fifteen picks across four meetings, with Carlisle carrying the weight of the day and a long price worth a small interest at Hamilton.

Four meetings, fifteen picks, and a card that leans north. Carlisle is where most of our work has landed today, five races deep, and there is enough there to keep you busy from mid-afternoon through to the evening. Lingfield gets things moving on the artificial surface, then Hamilton and Nottingham take over once the light softens.

Start at Carlisle, because that is where the day is decided. Hostility goes in the 2:45 and he has the sort of profile we like to see. Won over this course and distance already, scored two starts back, and then got no room at all when finishing fifth last time out. That kind of run is easy to forgive. O’Meara has a strong record at the track and the horse is still on a mark that gives him a chance. He is our first serious interest of the afternoon.

Later on the same card, Viviana lines up in the 5:15 and everything about the setup reads well. She has the right side of the draw for a Carlisle sprint, she has been placed twice in her last five over this trip and on this ground, and she comes back after 28 days off. Orr takes the ride, and there are few jockeys who know the place better. Beauty For Love and Talismans Time carry our bigger stakes on the card, both at prices that suggest the market has not quite made its mind up.

Lingfield is the quieter half of the day but Guesstimate in the 3:30 is worth your time at a double-figure price. Chico Dulce is the shortest of our three there and the one the market respects most.

Then there is Hamilton, and specifically Spirit Of Nature in the 8:30. Twenty-five to one is a long way out and we are not pretending otherwise. It stays a small stake for a reason. But there is enough in the profile to justify the ticket, and races like that one do not always go to the obvious. Galyx earlier in the evening is the more solid play on that card.

Nottingham keeps things tight. Moulin Booj and Thunderous Love are both short enough that they will not move the needle much on their own, but they anchor the evening.

Yesterday gave us Trefor at 13/2, which is the sort of price that makes a three-pick day worthwhile, and Ceinture d’Orion filled a place at nearly 9/1 without quite getting home.

Today is a wider net than that. Eleven of the fifteen are bigger than 4/1, so patience matters more than usual. Carlisle first, Hamilton late, and we will see where the evening leaves us.
