Seventeen runs at it, and Chepstow does the heavy lifting

Six meetings on a busy Thursday, with a strong Chepstow evening card and a 16/1 chance at Bellewstown worth a second look.

Six meetings today and we have found seventeen we like, which tells you the sort of Thursday it is. Plenty of summer racing to get through, but the evening card at Chepstow is where most of our work ended up.

Five go in at Chepstow and the one we keep coming back to is Diamondonthehill in the 5:43. He runs from a yard with a fine record at the track, gets cheekpieces on for the first time, and his best clockings are a class above this grade. The weight keeps falling too, so that overdue first win feels close. Earlier on the card, Oasis Sunrise in the 5:10 has won three of her last six and her rating is still climbing. A mile and a half is new ground for her, but a profile that progressive earns the benefit of the doubt. Lady Of Clover and Moscow Power round out a card we are happy to lean on.

Doncaster gets five as well, headed by Tilani in the 2:35. He drops back in trip after a solid second over further off today’s mark, and that switch is the move that matters. Two wins in his last five, a helpful draw in stall three, and Edward Greatrex rides the track well. Be Patient in the 3:45 is our other win bet there.

For those who like a price, Amethyst Stone at Bellewstown is the one. She is 16/1 in the 8:17 but has the plum draw in stall two, a genuine edge over this trip at the track, and Nicola Burns takes off a handy 5lb at a course where she rides winners. The Lyons yard is in form and she is well treated off 57. In a big field, that is a lot going for a horse at that price.

Beverley’s evening card gives us four more, with Amber Hamur our strongest fancy there, and single picks go in at Newton Abbot, where Max Of Stars carries our biggest stake of the day, and Sandown, where Boiling Point could outrun 12/1.

Yesterday brought another winner. Truly Glamorous obliged at 4/1, with Namiid and Night Shining both making the frame from a five-pick card. A tidy return, and the sort of day that keeps the account moving the right way.

Seventeen chances across six tracks. If the Chepstow card goes anything like we expect, this could be a Thursday to remember.
